I just caught the last episode and it was bad. Really underwhelming and boring. This show started off interesting and is just going downhill because all the writers do is drag out the main story and stick in random things that have nothing to do with it.
1) In
every episode, all she does is accuse some other person of doing it, then they get cleared in that episode and then they band with her to become some tiny terrorist hunting group. Who's next? Brandon? Or are they come up with some random explanation showing he's the terrorist?
2) All they do is stick in a useless red herring in every episode. At this rate, the end of the episode with Caleb inspecting the area in Grand Central Station will be explained away with some corny explanation like they did with Elias.
3) Speaking of Elias, what was his purpose? The reveal that he blackmailed by the actual terrorist wasn't compelling at all and the delivery was terrible. He suddenly comes in and then 10 minutes later, he blurts it all out. Is this supposed to be interesting and compelling?
4) What's with the random stories that contribute nothing to the main story? I called it months ago and, of course, Nathalie's fake scar served no purpose in the story at all. We already knew her ex was keeping their child away from her and neither that story nor her explanation about her fake scar was compelling. It did nothing, but fill up 15 minutes of the program. Same with Simon pretending to be gay. He pretended to be gay to differentiate himself? What?
5) Most of the characters are not that interesting. Nathalie is boring and so is Ryan. Alex is supposed to be the hero and we're supposed to root for her, but she's boring and not compelling. The same applies to pretty much all of them. Even Simon and the Amin twins aren't that interesting anymore.
6) Alex and Ryan's love story started off really interesting, but is getting stupid. She's angry at him for lying about his assignment to spy on her, but is willing to forgive Liam? The reasoning was that it was that Liam is a superior? Or is it because Ryan lied again about going to LA (which was his assignment)? It doesn't make any sense. She was angry at Liam until he gave his explanation about what he and her father did and suddenly she's okay with him? The end didn't make any sense either. She's crying because she's hurting Ryan and can't go back to apologize (even though it's her personality to be direct) and then goes with Liam instead? They could have made it interesting
7) Caleb and Shelby thing is annoying, but at least it's not stupid except for him revealing that he was part of a cult and her suddenly forgiving him in less than 20 seconds for all the things he's done. It was strange. I liked the ending of the episode where she talks about him putting truth over everyone's feelings
8) This goes back to random events and a red herring in every episode, but the Simon reveal as the terrorist worked. They gave us clues in every episode (like his frustration with the FBI, his treatment from the others, his lies, his past, etc) and it was organic. But of course, they gave us a corny explanation about how he
designed bombs with his accomplice, but never planned to detonate them. Right.
9) The Charlie thing was semi-interesting in his first episode, but now it's not.
10) The Shelby and Caleb's father affair isn't interesting at all.
11) Raina has completely disappeared after the twins revealed themselves. I'm more than willing to bet that her kissing Hamza (the terrorist in the hospital) will have little to no impact on the actual story considering that the show has things happen and they never come to actual fruition.
12) Speaking of Hamza in the hospital, how did she get in to visit him? Wasn't he in FBI custody? And she was allowed to visit him?
13) What is Brandon's purpose? Did they just stick him in randomly 1/4 into the season so they could end up randomly pinning the bombing on him?
I called it months ago, but it really is turning into Josh Safran's previous show Gossip Girl, which I have no idea why people liked. Nothing ever really happened on the show that contributed to plot development. There was some random conflicts written that get dragged out or solved in no time.
