I gave Rated R a listen today. I forgot how emotional this album is, and I'm still mad at myself for not appreciating the era while it was still present.

I've never given Te Amo proper credit, either. It's much better than I've admitted. The amount of emotion it captures is amazing.

No. I didn't begin to appreciate it until the era was almost over, and didn't quite grasp the utter genius of it until Loud came around. So unfortunate.

I'd love to see Rihanna take a new direction on her next album. An album full of emotion (that isn't just arousal), soft rock/soul oriented, basically more 'chill' songs. Songs like these;








Of course Rihanna will have upbeat material, too, but right now I can't think of what I want that material to sound like.

What does the Navy think? Would you guys like to see Rihanna take a more soulful direction? If not, what would you like Rihanna to do for album #7?

Rihanna's known for trying new genres with every era. With MOTS, it was reggae. AGLM was also reggae, but Rihanna tried electro-pop for "SOS". GGGB was a total make-over in which reggae was dropped for 'Pop&B'. RR used hip-hop and dubstep influences (Rock was used, too, but this genre influenced songs on AGLM + GGGB). Loud brought Euro-Pop with OG, and Dance ballads with "Complicated". TTT has Rihanna trying House music with WFL, and WHYB to an extent.

Although it is unlikely that Rihanna would actually take on a soft rock/soul route, I can still want her to do it, and knowing her, she'll try a song like that one day.

My favorite album of hers is Rated R, so I would like her to go back to that direction with her songs. I want her to dig even more deep; I want her to bare her soul into the album and be completely bare. Every single track on that album needs to have a meaning and purpose. I don't want her throwing in some random ass song just for hits. The album needs a unifying theme with cohesive songs.

Not even sure if this made sense. I suck at these kind of things.
