Because:
1- The tour supports an album that underperformed. Or, like ATRL like to call it, the biggest flop released by a main pop girl since a long time, whereas the Born This Way Ball was supporting an album that sold nearly 7,000,000 copies AND took place right AFTER her peak. Am I denying she has declined? No. It's just logic. Make up your damn mind. How are you gonna act surprised she grossed less when you spend your days shading Gaga in every thread you can?
2- The Born This Way Ball had nearly 100 dates. The Monster Ball had 200 dates. The artRAVE had 75 dates. Why? She got a hip surgery, she didn't want to tour for too long for her own health. She also wanted to have time to promote Cheek To Cheek, which was made almost as the same time they announced the dates. So no, she didn't change her plan. She recorded Cheek To Cheek in January / February 2014. We got the first US dates around the same time - December 2013 to be exact- so her team knew she'd have to promote Cheek To Cheek in November / December 2014 hence why they did not add a South America Leg nor add more dates in Asia, for example.
Had they added more dates in Asia AND a leg in South America, the tour would have most likely grossed more than 100,000,000.
