The cut, a feisty anthem about rejecting male advances, came into fruition after a musical tiff with L.A. Reid, who met with Trainor and told her that her upcoming release Thank You featured no standout singles. Trainor clapped back and said she believes she has eight singles, but the Epic Records exec abided by his opinion. In that instance, a hell-bent Trainor hit the studio, penned the track and pitched it to Reid the following day -- but this time, with back up.

"It was the very next day and I was too scared to go alone, and I've never been too scared," she recounted the story to On Air with Ryan Seacrest Friday morning. "I was scared that he was going to say no, so I brought my producer with me ... and he actually did all the talking ... I just sat there and [Reid] said, 'We got it.'"

I'm actually tempted to revisit her previous work to attempt to develop a new appreciation. That's how much I love this song. Like I've enjoyed the songs she's written for others, but I wasn't a big fan of her own work. AATB was annoying and DFH was hella problematic, but I wouldn't deny hit knack for creating earworms.
