Now really, the movie is really good, but you can't escape from the idea of it being a mix of Start Wars, Gladiator and Avatar.
The begging is bad, so bad, like horrible. I don't like watching trailers whenever an interesting movie comes out to not get any ideas, or hype myself up; so when I saw the Spy Kids' ginger boy in the first scene I was like this is ****.
Blabla, it's good. The end is amazing
But the Source material Princess of Mars was WELL before all those other mentioned. That makes it all the more painful when people go around saying it's a rip off of Star Wars,Prince of Persia,300 etc. Either way when Disney dropped it themselves.......one can hardly even try to defend it.
I hope the underperformance of The Phantom Menace re-release doesn't keep the original 3 Star Wars movies from being re-released in 3D. I want to see them on the big screen.
But didn't the Phantom Menace re-release open to bigger numbers then Fox had anticipated? It is the least popular of the Star Wars series.
I saw John Carter on Sunday. It was actually good! The beginning (first 10 minutes) were awful, and I was like ohhhh no, here we go, but it really picked up after that. This coulda been a big success if Disney hadn't failed so hard at it's marketing.
All the actors were really good, especially Taylor. I like him, he was great in FNL and great as Gambit and great here. I don't think this will hurt his career much since it wasn't his fault the movie didn't do so well. Hopefully Battleship does better for him.
Also a question, I'm in Canada so I count as part of the "international market" right?

Hunger Games tracking to open more than Breaking Dawn Part 1.
INSANE.
After finishing the book today, I ran to the ****ing theatre and all the midnight tickets were sold out. Im hoping they add more shows, it looks like ive found the next thing to fill my Potter void.
Hunger Games was an AMAZING book but the movie looks crap.
Im hoping the source material will be enough to hold the movie, apart from Katniss, the main three seem very weak acting-wise and they really need to deliver.
Weekend projections:
1. 21 Jump Street - $32.5 million
2. The Lorax - $24.9 million (-36%)
3. John Carter - $15.1 million (-50%)
4. Project X - $5.2 million (-53%)
5. Act of Valor - $3.8 million (-46%) http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3394&p=.htm
The Hunger Games are gaining more because of me. END OF.
Jokes, so ecstatic, the book was phenomenal but an easy-read.
Can't wait to watch it next Thursday! I booked my ticket, 1 day before the official release in the UK.
