I really REALLY hate people who say stuff like this, but I actually do miss the old Ellie...
I'm still waiting for something good enough to at least top Halcyon Days... So far the only new track that's close to that is Lost and Found. I'm so disappointed cause we all know she's capable of SO much more...
Anyway, that's my ranking so far:
LMLYD > Outside = Lost and Found >>>> Don't Panic = Army >> SITWYM > Powerful > On My Mind
OMM is just fine. It never grew on me the way I hoped it would. "Army," on the other hand, has grown on me significantly in the last week. I don't see it smashing and don't believe it should have been a single, but it's a great album track.
The stuff so far is not remotely as bad as HD to me. "Don't Panic" is probably the weakest, followed by OMM. It seems like they are having issues with decent choruses. Most of the new tracks have great verses, but the choruses are either underwhelming or just a mess.
I hate Halcyon Days, but everything so far is even worse, so I want something that is at least better than it...
haha i gotcha, i gotcha, i just disagree. i know that this stuff is still generic, very mainstream and she could be doing something a little more interesting, but it's still pretty good. maybe it's because i'm not a die-hard ellie goulding fan, though i do really like her, and that's why i'm not so bothered by this music. even still i can sense that this is shaping up to be her worst album. the music just isn't as good, especially after Halcyon, but it's whatever to me. i like everything so far, and i can jam to everything. it'll be a great workout record
This album would be so short if we got rid of all the random unnecessary additions, like Love Me Like You Do, Calvin Harris track, On My Mind etc.
