Album equivalents are the future. But you can't compare someone's album equivalents to someone else's pure sales.

Britney Jean is over 1M with album equivalents and ME is around 5M/6M with album equivalents. This would be pretty in line with the early 2000s when even flop albums were selling 1M WW.

Nielsen Soundscan tracks sales and they only have chapters in so many countries. If you add together all of her released sales, she isn't touching 215M digital tracks, let alone 275M records

Who cares where she is on the charts? What do the charts even mean in the larger context of her career going forward?

The charts are supposed to measure exposure and are essentially a gauge of promotional effort. Rihanna having so much more exposure than Beyoncé through Spotify and selling less in everything isn't something to be proud of.
