The second one flowed terribly and some of the Japanese versions of their Korean songs were a mess.

It makes me mad that Big Bang are well known, can sell out concert after concert, and always make bank from merchandise in Japan yet can barely scrape 60k when they drop an album.

The situations are a bit different, though. 2NE1 did it mostly off of hype, and we obviously don't know if they'll be able to do it again. Big Bang have done more shows in Japan than 2NE1 everytime they tour, and they've consistently sold out shows over the years.
