Mariah is not a legend. She doesn't have the impact or notoriety to be one.
It's a bit Janet-ish how she could never turn all of her chart success in the 90s into any actual traction on culture or impress her memory upon people.
I know people always use the untrue drag about Rihanna, but Mariah literally did/does not exist when her songs weren't charting.
Just because she doesn't fit your arbitrary requirements for what makes a pop legend doesn't mean she isnt one. I never said she is a big legend like bruce or madge but shes certainly not the nobody with the uneventful career you make her out to be.
I don't why I'm against Beyonce leaving the era behind now. I said it would be interesting to see where the album would peak without heavy or any promotion, and I got that.
BEYONCÉ can stop selling today and will have already sold more copies year to date than UA did in a full year.
Again with the technicalities lmao. We'll have this conversation when Beyst outsells Unapologetic (which looks unlikely since she's selling less than 15k a week). Until then this discussion is a waste of time.
Janet made cultural impact. Her influence on female popstars (not just American popstars) is still evident. And Janet literally has the most iconic performance ever, so iconic that Youtube was created just to save that performance
