I don't think she or Capitol care about that. She already tied one of the most important ones. The Whitney one (seven consecutive) probably will never be reached in this lifetime.

I see you sis, I see you. Unconditionally wasn't a song that would have turned the album era into a steaming pile of dust like the other song would have though. They obviously thought it could smash, but it just had no impact at all basically.

The era remained alive because Roar was still slaying. Uncle was a good buzz single while it lasted, but now it's time for the real second single Dark Horse.

It was already broken twice by The One That Got Away and Wide Awake. Dark Horse is a fan favourite so it's released but Katy obviously wants songs that she likes to smash, which was the reason Unconditionally, Firework and Thinking Of You were released.
