So true about BoA. She wasn't even around in Korea for long before she left for Japan. The last six months or so has kind of sucked in K-pop tbh, because everyone is debuting in Japan.
|
BoA should focus on Korea more.
'Hurricane Venus' did fairly well but she's most likely gonna go back to Japan this year.
I love her Japanese stuff but she needs to stop with these boring ass ballads if she ever wants to have a comeback in Japan. It's obvious Japan isn't here for them anymore

I see significant similarities between Beyonce and Hyori. Both broke their chains from their majorly successful groups, extremely talented, became massively successful going solo, have had issues with songwriting, etc. BoA is basic. I don't know what people see in her.
|
Beyonce and Hyori? Seriously?
Hyori cannot sing nor dance like Beyonce and if BoA is basic than so is Hyori.
BoA is a better vocalist than her and can dance circles around her with her eyes closed.
The only thing Hyori has over BoA is looks imo.

Hyori is def more popular in Korea, she's more charismatic and Koreans just love everything about her.
She has a new album coming this year, we'll see how that goes and whether she really overcame the whole H-Logic thing.
Btw, I made a "Hyori vs. BoA" thread at 6theory a couple of days ago, and Hyori won easily.

For the different standards of Hollywood and KPOP, yes they are similar.

BoA hasn't had the same longevity that Hyori did, and while I wouldn't say that Korea sees her as a "traitor", your friend is correct in that she was gone for a long time from Korea and that most definitely hurt her.

And the truth is spilled

Wait a minute, I prefer Hyori, but BoA is also really talented. BoA is a better dancer. Hyori has more criativity (better music videos, catchier dances) and she also has the looks. BoA has a higher vocal range but her voice is kinda annoying after you listen to a song of hers for the 200th time

I lurked once and it seemed that almost everyone there considered BoA a non-factor/has been.

Replay will remain their best song, but my favorite is the iconic masterpiece that is "Electric heart" followed by Lucifer, A-yo, and Up & Down.

Someone I know thinks Hyori is basically the Meisa in Japan in terms of skill, looks, music, and performing. Only difference is that Hyori is really successful. What are yalls opinion on this.

I also LIVE for Replay, but I feel like they released the wrong version. Boom Track is way better.
Hello Baby is so cute. Yoogeun is adorable, though sometimes he's kind of bratty. I just finished episode 4, and I love how Taemin ditched Minho (like everyone should) when the cashier told them they didn't have enough money. Taemin was so cute in that show. I always felt really bad for Onew, though.

I still don't know how Avex and SM allowed her to release Milestone.

Despite the plagiarizing i still use 'H-Logic' Her versions sh!tted all over the originals by all those nobodies anyways.
I can't at how that producer thought he could get away with it. Maybe one or two songs but not 50% of the album

I'm not into JPOP in general so excuse my ignorance, I'm assuming you're talking about Meisa Kuroki? The girl in Crows Zero?

All of Hyori's lead singles went #1. Meisa never had a top 10 in her career
I agree with the looks, because both of them are successful as models, but Hyori is more creative. She knows she isn't able to dance like BoA, that's why she works hard on her videos and performances.

I think they failed to realize the international impact that KPOP had at that time. Not only Korean people used KPOP. Everybody did.

IKR! But I'm pretty sure they expected a flop since they released it as a DVD verses an actual single
