Essentially, it seems she wants to send the message that a Taylor Swift performance is a big deal. That doesn't mean she'll never do US TV appearances or awards shows, but I'd be surprised if she does a full slate of TV promo for any upcoming single.
*Since TV performers get paid a nominal fee and viewers have to pay for cable, I know it's not literally "for free."*
