Being highly successful in labour intensive work here in Australia CAN get you rich. Some jobs here are so overpaid. Where else in the world do you see mega rich brick layers

Yesterday was my first day back to uni as well. Was so determined to start the semester afresh, even prepped for the class. Got there and the lecturer canceled the class

Finishing yr12 this year, should I apply for Melbourne Arts and then do law from that or go straight to Monash Law(though not sure I can get 98) It's so hard to choose what to apply to!!

I'm so angry with myself today. Today @ the train station I saw this guy I slept with but didn't say hi to him wtf is wrong with me? He was like standing so close to me but no I had to pretend I didn't see him and just board the train. Wtf is wrong with me? Such a good opportunity wasted cause I was being stupid

Anyway Queensland's new regulation on electronic ticketing cards are so dumb.

then theres all these go card, myki, etc
Why can't they all utelise the same card/system

I use the go card and I'm supposed to be using the student card (which makes fares half the price of adult fares) but they implemented this new rule. You have to obtain this special card (which was supposed to be delivered to me a month ago ) before you can use a student card. Since Translink is unreliable and slow as hell I have to use adult cards, so my fares cost twice as much until I get my special card thing. Ffs

Not quite sure about the Melbourne system
Do you have like a preferences kinda thing? Or like a one shot deal?

Are you talking about that Tertiary card thing? I had to get that too how dumb is it?!
Whatever the uni had a service where they handled all of it and we just got sent the cards whatever

So two guys who I don't normally speak to talked to me today.

One of them was a guy who I sorta-not-really-don't-kinda have a mini-crush on who I have a lot in common with, and another was a guy who I only met this year and he has trouble speaking sometimes when he's nervous and it's a bit cute. It was so random, he just came up to me in the library when I was studying and started talking to me (we'd talked a little bit before, but only very briefly) so I tried to not make him feel uncomfortable but he got that nervous-can't-talky way around me.

Anyway, that's not something that usually happens to me. I don't usually talk to people who I don't really know that well and it happened twice today, so I was taken a bit aback by it. But it was good.

They should really learn from Hong Kong's Critically claimed and award winning and megaselling Octopus Card, It can be used on public transport, fast food restaurants, supermarkets, vending machines, convenience stores, photo booths, parking meters, car parks and even used in Universities and apartments to grant entry.
Ironically it is designed by Australia-based company

At Melbourne you have to do one of their 6 undergraduate courses before you can go on and specialise, it makes a lot of sense as students get a variety as many don't really know what they want to do, however, it means you have to do a longer course and your place once you finish your undergraduate is guaranteed. But, it's the best uni in the country...

Well why don't you just apply to go straight into Law! Just work your ass off these last few months and you'll be rewarded with a spot

Take my advice with a grain of salt because I'm in Year 12 also but my predicament is almost same as yours since I'm conflicted between under-grad and post-grad med. I think if you REALLY want to do Law then you should probs put Monash Law first, since you can start studying that right away if you get offered a spot. But if you are considering the idea but aren't really sure then you can do B.Arts and study random things and see what you like. The only down side is that you have to do the LSAT which I heard is really bad.

Yeah I know, I have an interest in law but I struggle to see myself loving it. I have a passion for screenwriting and the VCAA runs a specific course however,if I applied for that - what kind of career would I have? How do I pay my bills? I wish I could see into my future to know what the right choice for me is. And yeah, the LSATs look dreadful especially because it isn't law specific and it forces you to answer things you would never think about so you can't be too prepared.

Did you sit the UMAT today? A lot of kids from my school did and they all keep going on about it.

ks_dollar, i didn't realise you were in QLD. the student concession system here is horrible, i managed to use my student card for ~8months after i graduated, but after that i just got a car. public transport in QLD is so, so overpriced. it's ridiculous.

all this uni talk is making me so nervous about next year. how the hell am i going to study while i'm working full time

I found out yesterday that the ATAR cut off for Global Business at Macquarie University is 87.30.

So that or over is my goal

mess people at my school are already starting to put their early entry applications for uni in, and i still have no clue what do to
i remember starting year 12 i was like "Yep, my ATAR goal is 96"
now as the year's gone, and i've done my assessments and ****, that number's gradually fallen
if i get anything above 80 i'll be happy

did/does anyone do business studies?
i can't <<< it's so annoying. fml i got 16/30 for my most recent assessment that was weighted 30% one of the lowest in the year. such a mess
