The music last season was kinda on point. The Orphans episode
Has anyone rewatched Freak Show yet? Is it any better the second time?
It's miles better when binge watched, the slower episodes aren't as bad when you can just watch the next one and even the filler episodes are better than previous seasons fillers.
Freak Show is a great season yall, just binge watch it.
I binge-watched it over the weekend, and I'm doing it again because there are some individual moments I really liked. Episodes 3-10 really weren't bad. It just felt like too little plot stretched over a lot of episodes. The writing is pretty dodgy in some places. The ending was absolutely tragic, though.
She kinda tha most human thing we got. She wasn't around nearly as much as I would've liked, but everything she did say & do, it was all so... Ugh.
Her near-delusional ass in the first few episodes, though. Approaching that dusty-ass clown. And then the literal THIRTY SECONDS of screen time she got in episode 3...
That scene in episode 2 when Bonnie HIT Twisty in the head and ran-- or, well, the bit leading up to it-- reminds me so much of 80's horror TV shows like Tales from the Darkside. Especially with that soundtrack. It was fantastic.
And mess, the finale of Freak Show was kinda a disaster. The last 5 minutes were sentimental, but not good because they didn't work in the grand scheme of things. And the first half was so rushed... The fact that they killed off everyone, had Dandy marry Bette, then had Desiree hired as a maid for them (and it was implied it was like that for a while though we only heard about it for 30 seconds), then had that all wrapped up before the 30 mark... That coulda been 1-2 whole episodes there, but then they just pushed them aside and SKIPPED ahead 8 years so they could focus on Jessica alone for the rest of the episode
They did everything they could already with Bette & Dot, Jimmy was a horrible character, Desiree never really did anything and the other surviving freaks at that point weren't developed enough to form a satisfying ending. Covering Elsa was about all they could do.
The scenes with Bette, Dot, Jimmy, Desiree and Dandy, though.
I know, but all of that alone is messy & kinda lazy.
It was satisfying to have Dandy die, but it felt weird. Something was off & not as climactic as it was supposed to be. It was made worse with him repeating that "I was put on this earth to bring death11!" mantra and his stupid "I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU!" bit. Made him seem more of a parody than a character. Oh, well.
I liked the scenes with Bette, Dot, Dandy, Jimmy, and Desiree, but it seems like that could've been expanded (+ the ending made a little longer) for the final episode. I don't really care about most of Elsa's career, they could've done a flash forward an episode earlier and erased one of the forgettable episodes.

The fact that there are multiple to choose from in a 13-episode miniseries says it all.
