I signed out and signed in and now all of my saved music is gone. Only the ones I have on my computer are there. Even when I click only those available offline. Let me just stop using iTunes for the night.

You'll have to redeem it as a gift card.

The link your friend sent you should include a code (it should be at the end of the link after the "=" sign). Copy and paste it into the redeem box on your iTunes and should download.
