You're clearly bitter and won't accept that young demographics prefer to stream urban music. Nobody is forcing them to do so, they decide to do it. I've heard people use Spotify on parties and they mostly play urban music because it's what is needed in reunions with friends. I can't imagine a party full of straight people listening to pop girls.

Urban music is simply better than pop music and it's always been that way as well. Hopefully that will not change, I was really tired of all these pop girls and their EDM or bubblegum music topping the charts.

I wish Rock could return to the levels of prominence the format held in 2000-5. Even Rock songs that sell and stream fairly well (The Sound Of Silence, Bad Necessities) that really would fit in at least at Hot AC can't get any airplay now. It's like if a song has an electric guitar in it now "Mainstream" radio doesn't want to play it. Die A Happy Man might could have caught traction had Nelly not recorded his version of the song, but the remake forced Rhett out when he should've made inroads.

On the US Spotify Top 200 right now, I see 21P Heathens at 37 (Ride 74, Stressed 114), Eminem's Lose Yourself (yes it has guitar, and it went Top 15 at Alternative) is #177, Coldplay's Hymn For The Weekend (a real stretch to call this Rock) #178, and Keith Urban's Blue Ain't Your Color is #200. I guess Bruno Mars 24K Magic, at #11, has some guitar, but AAA hasn't played it as they did UF. Million Reasons, which yes has a great deal of guitar work, isn't on the Spotify Top 200, despite strong sales.

Twenty One Pilots, who are actually selling and streaming at almost comparative levels to "Pop" artists, get played. But even though they are labeled as "Rock", I don't hear any guitars (though their vocals at times fit the format).

So, of the formats that have "a bone to pick" with "Mainstream" radio right now, Rock is far and away the most shut out genre!

I am not. That user is implying urban music shouldn't be smashing on streaming and that it's doing it due to payola. Most teenagers tend to party all the time and they do it while listening to urban music. Hence its domination on Spotify, nobody is forcing them to listen to that genre.

And those are facts, I wasn't arguing with that. I meant it for the "urban music is simply better than pop" sentence. Surely, it's cooler to like it hence why it's the music you hear the most at parties or that people play freely anyway without being scared of being judged. Pop, instead, has kind of a stigma of being "too gay" and is not as accepted. Don't tell me you never heard someone comment with at least a disdained "Oh." when a pop song by the likes of Katy, Gaga, etc. was playing. But you can't say urban is better. When it comes to music, it's all down to people's individual taste and you'd expect at least on this site not to be judged for liking pop music.
