Well, I did't but it's true: the only reason that song is a hit is because you can hear Ed Sheeran in it. Clearly a leftover from the X sessions that Ed gave it to him because it wasn't good enough to be in his Grammy AOTY nominated album. Sorry if you can't see this, it doesn't matter because Ed is collecting the checks. Well, not a lot of checks because the song is not a good seller, but it's nice to pay for a small vacation.

As of now, they are a one hit wonder band. Stressed Out isn't even 1/3 of the hit Pumped Up Kids was (yet anyway), so the bold talk is premature. And them already having an album prior to this doesn't automatically make them bigger. It's more impressive to me Foster were able to break big with their debut album (after hugely successful buzz EP and massive touring success/acclaim). I'm sure if they had a mediocre performing album before Torches, it would be experiencing late gains due to new album too. That's natural, with the new exposure.

Also much like you and others have stated that Tear In My Heart and other songs could break through, Foster was the same with Houdini, CIWYW, etc. Most of their other singles were expected to be sent to radio or naturally picked up from their impressive Spotify performance and general interest, but it didn't happen. 21P may luck out and have Pop instantly pick up something else, but there's no guarantee.

Same boat right now, until Blurry reaches Platinum and beyond plus garners more hits.

The point I was making is that they have a built in fanbase. They already have 5 gold singles, Vessel is damn near Gold, and even their first album which is independent got into the top 60 on iTunes last week. Also the 5 gold singles alone erase the one hit wonder status.

Well Ed is the reason people ran to listen to the song when the album came out. And he sings on it too. Fortunately the song is a decent one so people kept listening and sharing it. Not saying he deserves all the credits but giving him the majority sounds fair to me

People are so thirsty for Ed's new music that they are buying his leftovers. Anyway, the song is clearly Bieber trying to emulate Ed's sound and that's why the song is a hit. It will probably be #1 on radio for weeks because Ed is a pop radio staple.

It's funny how ATRL claims that "Eminem is done/over/etc." when his decade-old (or more) catalog sales are bigger than girls' albums who have had multiple smash hits in the last couple of years.

He literally hasn't done any type of television promo since 2014, and even then, it was for a song that had already peaked months prior
