I just gave my two cents in the comments section of that article:

Taylor/Taylor's team is standing up for the rights of her brand. Since there is no specific law for this, they get everyone to sign a contract, which is fine. All brands protect themselves, artists are brands too so they do the same.

Let's suppose, she has a wardrobe malfunction and everyone gets to see her private parts (too drastic, but you get the point). Im pretty sure Taylor wouldn't want such thing spreading around the net (although it would spread regardless, but that's not the point), hence why everyone would be allowed to use the photos just a single time with no further possibility of using it again. Then again, it says that with permission, publications and other people may be able to use the photos taken more than once!

Now regarding the part about smashing their devices, it may be a bit too much (and it truly is too much). But since it hasnt happened so far, i bet it is only to make sure no one actually dares to try and break the rules. That doesn't make the rule any less tragic tho!
