Justin Timberlake and Pink are older than Bey and get better updates though. Only a couple of years ago, John Legend, Robin Thicke and Pharrell had huge updates on POP. It's rare that POP throws any heavy support behind a black woman besides Rihanna...I think it's a double edged sword

Y'all giving so many analysis when it's clear as day that pop radio simply doesn't use Bey. Which other mainstream artist struggles for airplay like these? Payola or not, pop radio just doesn't touch anything with Bey. Even Running and Hymn are nowhere to be heard on pop radio here.

Bey kinda did this though This whole "I'm too good for radio" attitude is obviously not working.

As a stan, I'm conflicted about this, but in a sense I'm glad she's not desperate and has voluntarily removed herself from the politics of it all. Because at some point, as an artist gets older, radio is gonna ignore whatever they put out and said artist tends to get desperate a la J.Lo. I wouldn't have liked to see Bey get that desperate. I'm content that she has probably mentally accepted this already and moved on. Too bad she did it so early though, legends like MJ were having huge hits in their 30s.

Of course she did. RTW and BTINH flopped on pop and she's been butthurt since then, alienating pop radio by sending her music only to urban for like 5 years. Of course they're not going to suddenly hop on her music.

Meanwhile RTW wasn't melodious enough to smash on pop radio and BTINH just wasn't that great, those songs could only have done well at the time with payola. If she really wanted a radio hit at the time, Countdown or End Of Time (both love songs) could have been the lead singles. Run The World grew to become one of her most iconic and best songs though, but at the time it was too polarizing for radio.

she has been like that before flop of RTW, you didn't see year of 4? no radio interview since 2008.

Best thing I never had peaked at #15 on pop, tho.
