Probably one of the most important leaders in the franchise, Giovanni is the Gym Leader of Viridian City and, more notably, the boss of Team Rocket. One of the most intriguing leaders, you meet him several times along your journey, before the shocking reveal (it was 1998) and climactic showdown in the gym. After losing he abandons the gym and goes into hiding. Almost 10 years after the original games it was revealed that Giovanni's son was the rival from the Gen 2 games. A really interesting character and leader with actual significance and backstory that wasn't forced and in-your-face, too low entirely. Should not be below anything from Gen 5.
