For Midnight Sun he was promoting the album. He also premiered Ticket on twitter and I don't see that ever being a single (except if the album gets a 5th single which I doubt but Thicket would only get played in Triple A).
Yeah both Midnight Sun and Unpack Your Heart are more mature and better than RF. The line "we will live until we die" is very cringe worthy and I doubt Phillip wrote that, must have been one of the three songwriters he wrote the song with.
I am not very receptive to those songwriters because if you guys haven't noticed many lyrics are repeated thorough the songs. RF lyrics in Lead On, etc.
I understand why Phillip played it safe for his second album, but if he comes out with the same Gone3x hybrids for his third album I would be disappointed.
I have several problems with the album and one important one is that the album isn't cohesive. Yeah, the album is good but when the casual listeners buy his album based on RF or UYH and then listen to Fly or Trigger they would be WTF!! Yeah his fans will like whatever he puts out, but he doesn't have a big fan base, he totally depends from the GP. Phillip's singles needs to represent him as an artist, but the rock songs and deluxe tracks represent his style and what he was planning to do before he won Idol.
