What worries me the most is the awful time NBC put them again. It makes me so angry, it's like they want to sabotage the show!
Numbers on DirecTV are good, but not great, so I don't think they would keep it without NBC, for example.

Grey’s Anatomy (R) 4.088 million
Private Practice (R) 4.280 million
ABC Analysis: Interesting how PP grew out of Greys.... Will this be a sign that the pair will do well together when originals return?
I cannot believe this, WOW. Although new episodes Grey's will have the lead, but it will definitely help both, especially Private Practice.

Just because something wins an award, it doesn't means it's great. It just means it was most popular around the people who voted. (Not a lot of people in the real world really gives a damn about film awards anyway.) Fantastic comedy movies always get badly criticized because most of the reviewers and people who make the awards are too uptight to give a flying **** about laughter.

All that matters, is if you like a movie or not.

Who cares? Maybe not you or us, but everyone wants to be recognized in what they do. A doctor wants a prize for a medical discovery, an architect wants a prize for an iconic building, an actor wanst a prize for his brilliant performance. It is normal, please stop pretending like no one cares.

^Well, duh, of course the people who make it want to be recognized. But people who had nothing to do with the film don't really care. (Most people anyway.) It's not like when people go to rent movies, they check to make sure it has won an award in something.

the reason being?
1) Christmas time = people wanting to see a cutesy Christmas related film
2) owen Wilson: more people would like to see his interestingly comical roles as opposed to Jennifer Aniston's bland and not to mention cliched perfomances
3) the dog: people for some reason would just rather watch a "heartwarming" tale about a dog rather than an actual person with a twisted life

well, their promotionès were portrayign it as such. And Jen Anistion is only in the limelight cos of the whole brad Pitt deal and she is simply a bigger tabloid *****, while Owen really is not.

Well, still. If you went to go see the film to get a nice Christmas vibe, then you would be sadly disappointed until like the last few minutes of the film where it snows. And Jennifer Aniston is not big because of Brad Pitt. Ever heard a nice little show called Friends? Seriously, I just watched a whole thing about her on E! and they only spent like 10 minutes on Brad/Jennifer thing. (IMO, Brad is fugly and Angelina is even worse. Those lips ) Owen is huge as well. He's been in the news a lot. Granted not as much as Jennifer, but he's still a very widely known actor.

so basically, if sales dont mean anything, and awards dont mean anything, then what the **** are people making movies for?
of course awards matter. you don't just get an oscar because you are kate winslet or phillip seymour hoffman (i.e., well known and talented). you get an award for making something that elevates and enhances and progresses the medium (film) as a whole, which includes story-telling, cinematography, costumes, music, and god forbid acting.
also, owen wilson is more famous than jennifer aniston, i promise you.

Jen Aniston is like a blur in that movie. Its Owen and the dog make the movie.
While no one denies that Benjamin Button is Brad's best performance.

^No one said sales didn't matter. Awards don't matter that much. Sure some people care, but not everyone. It's obvious that in films, when you have the more money making movie, obviously more people like it. (That excludes independent films which don't make that much money unless they get amazing promo like Juno.) But the truth is, a very small percentage of people that don't work in the business of cinema care about film award shows. (Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston are both HUGE people, BTW.)

Jennifer Aniston isn't the star of the film anyway. Owen and the dog are the stars of the film. Jen is a co-star. Brad is the main character of the other film, so of course people are going to talk about his performance. People always talk about the main character's performances.

a lot more people care about film awards than you think. why do you think there's so much talk, as there has been, for The Dark Knight getting a couple nominations? Because people wan't to see it get rewarded for what they feel is a job well done.

Yeah, but there is always a panel of people with their own bias behind it. Let the people decide who is best and not a few opinionated people.

Then why not let the people vote on who gets the award and not a panel of 10 guys who think that they know what is good and what is not. I can decide for myself what is good and what is not.

You can check on some movie watchers' sites or forums and see how normal people like us rate MM and BB.
For example:
Yahoo!Movies - http://movies.yahoo.com/ (Benjamin A- | Marley B+)
IMDB - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0822832/ (Benjamin 8.6/10 | Marley 7.3/10)
Now, not only the critics but public love BB more than MM. Case closed.
