Music acts fear they won't make waves if they don't play radio events for free. Artists claim they won't be playlisted if they speak out, and labels pay costs for them to perform – even if stations charge for tickets

What is even more troubling for some artists is the feeling that they won't even be considered for playlisting if they don't perform at radio events, often for free.
The "freebie" events that perhaps cause the most grumbling among the artists and labels I speak to are the ones where the radio stations sell tickets to the show, while the artists are not only required to pay their own production costs, but also to play for free.
I get such a kii out of seeing the pop girls who supported Hillary squirm. I don't like Trump, but this is what they get for supporting Hillary over Bernie prior to the primaries. They want to be somewhat progressive enough to make themselves look good (like supporting some social change), but they're not progressive enough to support economic change and other non-surface issues. The only pop girl who gets a pass from me is Miley because she voiced her support for Bernie early on.
