I've always thought that because of her commercial success, Rihanna would be unstoppable if she actually put effort into her singing, performing, and dancing abilities. She's not necessarily terrible at any of those things but she could do a lot better.

And with her ability to easily migrate between music genres and the way she seamlessly transitioned into the streaming era, imagine the power she could have if she executed choreography like peak Madonna and sung as well as peak Mariah.

Yeah. But she's not necessarily good at any of them either. She is like mediocre/just ok at everything except appealing to basic white pplz apparently (which actually makes sense you are what you eat etc.) But she isn't outstanding at anything which is why it will NEVER happen no matter how many quick lil singlez she gets written for ha

Pretty much my point that she is average all-around. You do have a point that she gets an easy pass because I feel like every pop girl has been dragged at least once for a bad performance but I don't think Rihanna's ever been dragged for a bad performance.

She definitely has but I think people are so used to it at this point that people's expectations aren't as great as they are for others to begin with so it's kind of expected when she doesn't wow you because you weren't expecting it to begin with. Whereas if someone with actual talent like Gaga, Adele, Bey, etc. have a terrible performance it's like wyd sis?

The price it pays to be mediocre I guess.
