There was like 20 squirrels living in our attic for 2-3 years before my parents finally called animal control and did something about it. They scratched the floor so much it made a hole in our kitchen ceiling
And squirrels make this weird high pitched screeching sound that sounds like they're being murdered and they wouldn't shut up
Then after that, a mother raccoon and her 4 babies were trying to make a home in there, but we weren't feeling that and had them removed then put something over the hole in the roof so no more animals could get in. So maybe an animal got into your attic.
