|
Maybe in the future. My goal is to get ppl into some of these artists by rating their singles then maybe we can do some of their albums later. The female artists are already popular on here for obvious reasons.

@MP2K you could also include Gallant for Alt R&B since he just had an album. Unless Ology could be used for future resources.
|
Since Gallant is in demand I'll try to make room for him if I can.

It is very soulful and bluesy. She used to do country before, but she reinvented herself as more of a rock singer. This album earned her a Grammy for best new artist and was on many EOY top ten lists.

Also, This Was 2000 was never finished right? Would love if we re-booted that but threw in Sleater-Kinney's All Hands On The Bad One, and maybe replaced Eminem with D'Angelo's Voodoo because... Then it could be three male acts (Radiohead, OutKast, D'Angelo/Eminem) vs. three female acts (Sleater-Kinney, PJ, Jill)/three groups vs. three soloists with a lot of genre diversity.

Yes, king D and SK who I've been meaning to get into without trekking through Eminem? I'm here for it.

Ace, how would I go about hosting a Bat for Lashes discography rate?

Alternative R&B: JMSN, Abra, Jai Paul, Dawn Richard, Kelela, FKA twigs
and modern Neo-soul/funk is silently booking both groups with their acclaim: Lion Babe, The Internet, Nao (Didn't you want Bilal? I would include him if you can narrow down his singles to 3-4 best ones? or he can wait until part 3)

Here for it

i was thinking about doing another rate in the future... not now, but idk, i have 3 concepts i'd like to do.
1) 60's Bands Rate - rating the most commercially successful album from the beatles, the rolling stones, the doors, the beach boys and the who (out of those released in 60's obviously)
or
2) The Beatles After The Break Up Rate - The first album released after the break up by each member.
or
3) Brit Pop/Brit Rock/ Whatever Rate- Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, The Smiths, Blur, The Libertines, Coldplay, Joy Division - rating 5 highest charting (in UK) singles from each band.
any thoughts?

How about a rate for UK artists that had enormous sophomore slumps, using their successful debuts? It would be something like Duffy (Rockferry) vs. Leona Lewis (Spirit) vs. Alexandra Burke (Overcome) vs. Pixie Lott (Turn It Up) [vs. Little Boots (Hands) vs. Eliza Doolittle (Eliza Doolittle) vs. Diana Vickers (Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree)... the list can go on for long]. I don't know, just throwing an idea out there! Not sure how many participants it would attract, doe.

Also an interesting rate would include the four albums by the four Eurovision winners this decade (Lena - My Cassette Player, Loreen - Heal, Emmelie de Forest - Only Teardrops, Conchita Wurst - Conchita).
Or again, a rate for the global Swedish girls, including the future Zara Larsson album, Loreen's Heal, Tove Lo's Queen of the Clouds (in case it's already been used, her sophomore), and Agnes' Dance Love Pop which were all very successful outside of Sweden.
And finally, on top of my head, I was thinking about a boys' rate including teen idols like 1D, Bieber, Troye, Zayn, Shawn and Austin Mahone. Have their albums been used for a rate already? If not, it would be LIT!

I just put him in case Purpose or Mind of Mine have already been used/booked for another rate. He deserves some recognition anyway, his EP has some great songs

Purpose/Views/Beauty Behind The Madness would be an interesting rate. The three biggest male pop eras of the past year.
You could maybe add Zayn's album but its not really at the level of those three.
--
However, on that note, I was wondering when/if I should do the UOGTeens: Cool Kids rate?

MiNd oF mINe is better than Views and Purpose but you shouldn't include it so we can have a Canadian themed rate.

You could probably do a Male Pop Artist Rate using Zayn, The Weeknd, Beiber, and Nick ( maybe add Shawn and Charlie) and save Views for a rap rate (Drake v. A$AP Rocky v. Big Sean v. J Cole- there most recent albums). Just a thought.

Oh that rate isn't for me to host, it was just a general suggestion since I feel like its been a little while since we've had a really big blockbuster rate.
We could do a B-List one afterwards for Zayn/Nick/Shawn tbh
