holyground's "trippy" trinity
Delirious. Monstrous. Delusional. To "trip", is to have your mind taken to a whole new place where nothing makes sense, but you enjoy it anyway.
Flash Delirium
MGMT this whole song is just insane it's not possible to pick a particular lyric that encompasses this song
To introduce this "trippy" trinity, of course I'd put probably one of the most insane songs I've ever heard. The first few verses seem to be jabs towards stuff like social network, how people wait for change and people who don't know ****. But towards the end the song just turns into a crazy mess and it's pretty impossible to understand whatever is going on. Even the video is wacker than crack.
Monster (feat. Bon Iver, Kaye West, Nicki Minaj & Rick Ross)
Kanye West "i'll say bride of chucky's child's play, just killed another career it's a mild day"
This song probably has a more egoistical meaning, but it's still nothing but a monster. All 4 rappers delivered. Even Rick sounded like an ominous god and Bon Iver was just haunting. And let's not forget Nicki, she went all OUT and OWNED. Anyway, if Flash Delirium did not mess your mind up enough, this will do the trick.
Kalopsia
Queens of the Stone Age "rose tinted eyes, colour my sorrow, a shade of wine"
Kalopsia: Everything seems more beautiful than it actually is. That's basically what you'd feel like after you're high and stuff like that. To stay in the trippy mindset ain't sustainable, is everything really good?

A euphoric collection of hypnotic music.
For my trinity, I decided to focus on the more somber, laid back style of trippy music. Surrounded by ethereal vocals, modest synths, and hypnotizing lyrics, each song provides an escape into a world of ecstacy.
Underrated in all senses of the word, Santigold's entire career is built upon trippy and trance-driven music. My Superman is a hypnotic experience, with Santigold's lyrics and tame back beat providing the highway to a trance-like state.
Based on the intro alone, this song proves to be one of the most eclectic and trippiest songs ever created. The background instrumental is laid-back and collected, and all throughout the song, Active Child provides haunting backing vocals that create a euphoric mood, which will allow the listener to excape into a brand new world. The background instrumental is laid-back and collected.
Before I'm criticized because I did not use the original version, I'd like to state this version of the song is, by far, the most bizarre and psychedelic version of this song. Backed by an 808 kick drum and subtle synths, the song takes the listener on a hypnotic journey. Ellie's voice alone places the listener in a trance, as her vocals are harmonious and relaxing.
Astraeius
Astraeius's Trippy Trinity
I'll Be Alright By Passion Pit
"I drink a gin and take a couple of my pills...
And my parade will give you chills"
Kiss me... Join me... Welcome to my world.
Came Back Haunted By Nine Inch Nails
"The throat is deep and the mouth is wide...
Saw some things on the other side"
I ventured to another world.. And I came back haunted...
Sweet Spot By Wild Beasts
"There is a godly state...
Where the real and the dream may consummate"
Now this is a trip to a bizarre fairytale world.
It's just such a weird, and at times creepy track. "Creepshow"
is just so different and weird, that it makes me love it.
Overall it's very bizarre track. And video makes
it even weirder, so unusual.
I always get in some weird place, when I'm
listening to this. The repeating hook, and the story behind
this song, makes me think of drugs (of course I don't do
them, don't be silly) But it feels like I'm doing them while
listening to this. Feeling like Hippie, weed and hallucinations
everywhere.
Last song I chose is "Days Go By" by Dirty Vegas.
I think that this song is indeed evry trippy. I could imagine high person
listening to this because it's very hypnotazing. When listening to this
song you are feeling like in another place, it's like a short trip. It's like
going into a word of illusions, it's jsut so trancy, and the
instrumental is also very hypnotazing.

TheTrippyTrinity
For the challenge description this round, collin challenged competitors to think outside of the box with trippy, and think musically trippy rather than drug-induced. However, why not do both, thinking both inside and outside of the box? One reason a lot of people take drugs is as a way of escape, and thus the concept for this entry came to be. Each song, while musically trippy, also represents a different kind of escape. Enjoy!
Musically, this is probably the strangest song in the trinity. Its production is sine-filled and sparse. The song highlights that words and actions from others really do hurt, but that we need to "give in to the rhythm of [our] feet". While the eccentric lyrics may not state it outrightly a la pop power anthems, the message in dug in there nonetheless.

Society is constantly limiting us to what we can do and what we can't do. Isn't there a way to just be crazy for a while? Musically this song is all over the place in the best way possible, and it's straight-out kooky. If you listen closely, you'll even notice the song even subtly reflects a bit on society ("You can't be funny if you want to make money now").
Black Steel is about someone getting drafted and avoiding it, and while that's a very specific situation, it can also be viewed on a much wider scale and it can even be seen metaphorically. Responsibility and the future can be very unsettling sometimes, and everyone needs a way to get away from it, even if just temporarily.
This song consists of Madonna whispering prayers over a backwards sample from Like A Prayer. The way the sample sounds and how she starts saying random things like "I have a reservation" and "What you do you mean it's not in the computer??!!" it's just... bizarre.
This song is addictive as crack. One of the main reasons I picked this song it's because the music video is colorful and it's very influenced by the psychedelic culture.
This masterpiece has incorporated a dubstep sound that somehow it can make you feel euphoric, It sounds a little bit different from the stuff that they've been doing since their early years with Showbiz until The Resistance (2009).
This trinity was inspired by the 3 keywords that collin gave us for this round.
My hints are so obvious But y'all forget that just my hints don't really tell you where you're going to end up. Judges never agree 100%. Someone I ranked badly could easily end up in the Golden Trinity.
Sorry, I intended to do it in my small bit of free time but we ended up going for a meal instead and then I went to Madrid and now I'm back home and am busy with rehearsals for the school musical which we perform from Thursday and I am just too busy.
The screams... so ahead of its time it’s truly unbelievable.

Don’t do drugs kids. The scariest song I’ve ever heard, and that’s before you play it backwards.

You Lust
I don’t really know to be honest with you. I don’t touch drugs and this isn’t my kinda thing but after checking out this album last year this one stuck with me. I think I’d use the word euphoric here; I find it relaxing despite the multiple layers conflicting with each other.
He shall automatically be placed in the Flop Trinity due to policies, but here is his entry!
