MOTM is a song that pushes Britney's brand, breaks new ground for Britney and yet, somehow, resembles a maturation of her previous sound (mostly Lucky). It is not a great second single choice, but they need to wrap the era up with the song.
Even if Love Me Down would outperform it commercially, MOTM would expand her brand, which is much more important.
