Amazon.com has spent literally millions of dollars buying the Gaga album from the Universal Music Group and Interscope at the standard wholesale cost of $8.40, and then selling it to fans for $.99. I can't think of another time a retailer took a loss like this, and I wouldn't expect it to become any sort of a norm.

I think Amazon will do this again soon (probably with '4') to keep momentum going, but the thing is - Gaga is a media magnet and this story was reported everywhere. Even my parents told me they heard about this .99 cent deal.

So it will be interesting to see how this affects the album industry and how often Amazon will take the risk in doing it.

Further, just looking at current market conditions, should an album that sells for $9.99 count twice as much as an album that sells for $4.99? How about on iTunes: Should a $1.29 track count twice as much as a $.69 track? I'm inclined to say no.

I'm not sure about Xtina. Probably not. I'm just curious, is Someone Like You huge in Germany? Because that song is ****ing AMAZING and it's EVERYWHERE in the UK. That song is an instant, timeless, classic. Rolling in the Deep, meh. But Someone Like You and so many other songs on 21 have such potential.

One review I read said it feels almost dirty to be listening to 21 now, before all of the songs are classics that are sung in karaoke bars around the world. I feel the same way haha
