Alright I haven't talked this much pre-deadline this season buuut:
I wouldn't get too pessimistic with how this week will go. You were even more restricted with the Pokemon challenge and that was the best week so far. The limitations are in your mind, I feel like all the judges gave some room for interpretation this week in what they'd like to see. Here's my two tips:
1) Take your label's criteria and break it down into 3-5 bullet points.
2) Work together this week, especially with others in your label. Trade entries and read them. It'll help to get a feel for how others in your group are interpreting the label's request.
If you follow those tips, I think you'll feel less overwhelmed. Heck, I don't think the judges would mind if you asked for further clarification on the descriptions, as long as you don't show us an actual song.
Wow I was going to switch to Saga but I'm not about to compete against Fefe, Citrus, and Vision
I didn't know it was a competition between each person on the label That's what I get for not reading everything. I thought a judge could hire everyone if they wanted.

BTW jpow it's not EXPLICITLY country I'm looking for, it could be country, folk, bluegrass, roots/southern rock, blues, etc. Just that rootsy Americana type stuff
also Tempura the sign ups in your post are messed up and switched

Just read the challenge. I knew I picked the right label
I wonder how much the bonus is. Hoping to collect one more top 10 hit from this era. I feel like Hor will hire me tho. My songs are always very much rooted in storytelling and not much else.
Besides this week. And last week. And most of my songs from last season
You're right, I hate when I grab the Deadmau5 version, I think that's the first one that pops up when you search "The Longest Road Morgan Page". I agree that the original is vastly superior.
Hor, can we please get more details about this artist?
"Focused on storytelling" ... "Making personal experiences universal"
"Mix between Mitchell and Bowie"
"Grounded on pop" ... "Mixing pop and rock"
"Experiments with electronic sounds and lyrical concepts"
Basically all that this tells me is that I should write an acoustic-based pop/rock storytelling song.
Are you looking for a hit single? An emotional ballad? An acclaimed lyrical masterpiece that would only ever be an album cut? Something thematically controversial?
And the gulf between Bowie and Mitchell is so vast that it encompasses basically everything under the sun.
Am I supposed to be direct and confessional, or avantgarde and conceptual?
