I don't buy into conspiracy theories, but Scientology is absolutely one of the most ****ed up and corrupt groups in America. They use their wealth to buy their way out of the law, and they terrorize people who try to leave.
It's a "religion" that's based on science fiction books. It's just a scam for the super-wealthy to make more money off the gullible. They bullied their way into being categorized as a religion instead of a cult.
If you join their cult, you sign contracts that say they can take you out of psychiatric care and put you in their own facilities, even if you have a complete breakdown and need real help.
You can NEVER leave once you've joined
If you have any family members or friends critical of Scientology you can NEVER speak to them again
In the case of Lisa McPherson, charges against the church were suddenly changed when the judge decided her death was an "accident" instead of negligence, with absolutely no explanation.
A ton of the **** they do is illegal, but they've somehow paid off or blackmailed the entire damn justice system so they never get in trouble
