Despite the shaky concepts of "good" and "bad," I understand what you're saying.
What you're saying, however, is not what the picture said. The picture said that "Religion does not always correlate with ethics."
This implies that religion and ethics aren't associated (or usually aren't associated), which is blatantly untrue.

Good and bad are pretty black and white.
And nope, what you're saying is not what the picture says. The poster image is only saying that you cannot conclude a person's morality or ethics from their religion alone, and that is absolutely true, simply because people choose their own behavior and choices, NOT the religion. The image was more than just that quote, it also includes emphasis on the ethics of people, not just the ethics of a religion.

No, good and bad are not black and white at all. They're probably the two most subjective and "grey" concepts there are.
And yup, I saw the picture. It does indeed talk about the ethics of people, as well as religion. And no, the entire poster was actually that one quote. The whole poster is a sentence that finishes with "religion does not always correlate with ethics."
And again, this implies a lack of relation, when there is indeed a relation between ethics and religion and people...religion is more often than not a good indicator of a person's ideas of "good" and "bad" (because like I said, those concepts are very subjective). The examples used in the poster are extremes and therefore do not hold up very well with what it's trying to say.
AGAIN, it has wonderful intentions. But contrasting MLK to Hitler and Steve Jobs to Stalin is ridiculous, and only further sheds light on the issues with the ideas that the poster is trying to promote.

Nope they're actually quite plain.
The poster is composed of several sentences, images, and names of people; that is more than the one quote you mentioned, and the message is that a religion claimed does not guarantee that the person will abide by that religion's ethics and values, and that is a 100% fact. There is no other way around this; it matter's not a single bit that the posters makes use of extremist people as examples, because the message continues to be true and can be applied to the common man on the street. You can remove the people used as examples entirely from the poster and it will still be true. The poster also does not deny any correlation between religion and ethics, per the words "does not always" rather than just, "does not."

Okay, no, absolutely not. I thought the idea of "good" and "bad" being subjective was a universally accepted concept. It's like you're disagreeing with me just for the sake of disagree with me.
I think we do agree, though, that the poster has "good" intentions. From there, it's a matter of interpretation, and it's clear that we have different interpretations...
But the "does not always" bit is where the problems arise...because again, the poster has used extreme examples. It pretty much admits that religion and ethics do correspond. "Not always" means "more often than not," which is true. Religion and ethics more often than not do correspond.
The poster is ineffective.

I'm not. Many people think they're subjective, but they aren't.
Anyway, the only correct interpretation is mine, for the reasons I've already explained in my previous post. Again, the examples can be removed entirely. The message is not dependent on the examples.

So I was on my parent's bed typing on my fathers laptop, and a tiny (but REALLY fast spider) ran across the screen. I jumped up and looked for something to kill it and I found some toenail clippers. I looked back at the laptop and found it running on the keyboard and then it ran all the way to the left side and crawled into the USB port and now it's like IN the computer. So I took the toenail clippers and stuck it inside of the USB port and the laptop immediately shut off. I got really nervous that I broke the laptop, but I got the charger, plugged it in and it works again. However, when you take the charger off of the laptop, it just shuts right off. I hope I didn't permanently damage the laptop.
And I think the spider is still in the laptop, too.

Ugh, tell me about it.
I have a massive crush on this guy, and my intuition was telling me that he was maybe possibly into guys...He'd never had a girlfriend to my knowledge, all of his friends were girls...
But a couple of weeks ago, he posted pictures on his Facebook that were of him with a girl at prom and they were all up on each other....I wanted to cry.
He still might like guys. Maybe.

heartbreak sucks. Had high hopes for this guy. I think we could be friends once I detach myself from the emotions. Give me another 3 months & a ton of alcohol inbetween though
