I have ditched Emotions as my fav album in favor of Mariah Carey. This is it. This is THE ONE. I think what happened with me and Mariah was I favored her latest work (Memoirs) when I discovered her, and then as I went back I started to realize the album before was better (though I skipped a few). First my fave was Memoirs, then TEOM, then Butterfly, then Daydream (for a couple years actually), then Music Box (for like a week), then Emotions, and now I'm paying more and more attention to her debut and realized it's phenomenal. Every song is just so perfect.
Imo she's the kind of artist where you go backwards into her music catalogue and appreciate it more with time.

It was the same for me. I never really paid much attention to Mariah Carey and Emotions. I spent nine years of my stanning not understanding why Mariah her debut had always been among the fan favorites.
And then two years ago I gave her early albums another chance and truly got engaged in them. Ha Vision Of Love really hit me then

I had been a prodigal son and finally came to my senses recognizing the divinity that'd been upon me for years: Vanishing, All In Your Mind, Prisoner, and hell yes, There's Got To Be A Way are perfect
She was able to preserve something very truthful, honest, and alive in her music back then – something she outdid only on Butterfly. But I am getting these kind of feelings somewhat from #Beautiful and The Art Of Letting Go, too, so I don't want to give up my hopes the new album might be a true masterpiece again just yet.
