I read that article about the BET special/why she isn't doing promo on that fan site and I'm confused because it says it costs money to do that kind of stuff but I thought it was free to go on a talk show, and the only money involved would be plane tickets & hotels

Well some of it is "free", but most types of promo have costs involved. Specially TV performances.

Was wondering if anyone else noticed something that I'd noticed.

At the start of the songs we've heard so far, there's a distinct familiar sound that Janet's kind of taken from parts of her own discography.

At the beginning of Unbreakable it has that sound taken from Together Again.

At the beginning of BURNITUP! it has that Rhythm Nation sound.

At the beginning of No Sleeep we have the rain.

I'm willing to bet these references will run throughout the entire album. It's like a dedication to herself.

I understand. I think the beginning of Unbreakable sounds a little like I Get Lonely's bass line if anything. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

The Great Forever also has water sounds in the bridge, as well as the staple inclusion of mistakes in the recording sessions (just like the 'didn't quite hit that note, that wasn't such a good time' in Runaway).

I really feel like she's gonna take us on a trip through her entire discography.

I noticed this today actually! Except I think the beginning of Unbreakable sounds like the beginning of Anything from TVR.

I love the 'didn't quite hit that note, that wasn't such a good time' part in Runaway. It's cute!
Also the "Work in progress" in Special and the "Oops!" in Whoops Now.

20 Y.O. had somewhat of the same concept when it came to sampling/referencing some of her older work. I hope this album includes tons of references. It like a little easter egg.

She's been low key sampling her songs for a while.

On her song "Feels So Right" from her All For You album, that keyboard hook that is heard throughout the chorus sounds like the ending of "That's The Way Love Goes" from her "janet." album.

I honestly can't wait for this album, though. I don't think any genre/sound is going to go unnoticed!
