The reviewer obviously wanted a grandiose album like MX with big anthems, that's why he was so harsh.
Coldplay consciously decided to make a stripped down album so hating the album because it's not full of anthems is actually a compliment.

With Ghost Stories being the worst reviewed Coldplay album by music critics in their entire catalog, will this mean that theyre chances of being nominated at the GRAMMY AWARDS will be so SLIM?

i have this feeling that Coldplay wont win any GRAMMYs because of the critical backlash this album has been getting from music critics. Goodbye album of the Year nomination

I'm just listening to the album in eternal loop and not giving a **** about reviews. I'm in love with it and it'll be successful for today's standards I'm sure.

In their next album they will be like "we want Ghost Stories back" and blah. Just like everyone was with VLV when MX was released.

Grammy's go more towards sales than acclaim. They have done so for he last decade.

I don't think GS will be a particularly amazing seller (tho it will sell decently). I have a feeling they're gonna stage a massive comeback with the album that's coming out next year.

Don't worry about Grammys. They'll get many nominations and win few of them. They could still be nominated for AOTY (but we all know BEYONCÉ is going to win that)

i think this will sell 1.5 million in the US when all is said and done. But, the longevity of this album depends upon the success of A Sky Full of stars. That's why its important that this succeeds in US POP radio

1.5M that's almost MX numbers. And if the rumors of an EP at the end of the year are true, I guess 2M won't be out of reach.
Anyway, this is just speculation, we'll have a very good idea when HDD releases predictions tomorrow.

There seems to be a wave of critics REAPPRAISING MYLO XYLOTO and most of these critics are actually saying that MYLO XYLOTO was an excellent album. When Mylo Xyloto was released, there was a backlash both from the fans and the critics. But 3 years on, there seems to be a change of heart from the critics and it seems that they like Mylo Xyloto a lot. Just take a look at this website:

and its just one of many websites i have seen that seemed to have taken a second look at mylo xyloto and they stated that they actually liked it.

So basically, maybe in 2-3 years time, i think ghost stories will be in a similar situation where most critics would actually admit that GS is a "Damn fine album"

How the **** did I just find out about A Sky Full of Stars. THE SLAYAGE IS REAL, especially that last minute.





This might be the first Coldplay album I fully listen to since X and Y. I really like Magic but Midnight is strangely autotuned. It's weird how I haven't fully listened to their last two albums since I like a couple songs off them and stanned for X and Y.
