Question: Do y'all like to discuss how race is a prevalent issue in music, or do you not like to talk about it because ATRL will call you racist and/or a "hater of successful white artists?"

I don't really care because I'll say something about it when I feel like it, but do y'all feel differently?

Of course it is.The darker the skin, the smaller the chance of success one receives.It seems to happen to darker skin women more than their male counterparts, too.


Unfortunately, image still plays a part in pop music, and if you don't fit it, you won't see the success.

I like the discussion and it's true. The darker you are, the less likely you are to become successful. I'll say something when I need to, but I try not to shove it in people's faces.

Yea, it is some truth to that, the darker you have a lesser chance of being successful. Not even just in music either out in the real world, I remember reading something a while ago about job interviews. They were saying something about if you had someone that was dark and someone that was lighter, the lighter skin toned black guy would get the job. Sadly skin color still plays a factor in things like this, people like to act it doesn't, but it does.

To be honest I try and avoid talking about race issues with white people in general. I know that it's not their fault but most of them just don't seem to get it, at least from the discussions I've had.

But no matter how uncomfortable they are, such discussions are vital to really understanding the issue and progressing forward.

One conversation I won't have with some whites is the debate over the NAACP,and if that organization is actually racist or not.

I already gave out my opinion on the "Is BET racist?" threads in the blogs.
