In short, I don't think tax increases are the answer, it didn't work with tobacco here, at all.
If people really want it, they'll pay extra.
Also the distinction is not always easy to make. What's fast food? McDonald's' products?
They sell salads. Tax them too? They contain nutrients but also more calories (I dislike the term) than the burgers.
I'm for healthier food in schools.
I'm for an increase in nutritional education. If you knew what you're eating you might hesitate a bit more.
I'm for clear, easily noticeable labels on food.
It's the lifestyle...you can't force people with tax increases. You have to make clear to them that they are responsible for themselves and fast food is harming them greatly.
