She was right. That's what my dad said to me although I was sad. He came to earth and did what he was born to do. He changed world and African history, and is now a legend. You can't ask for anything more out of life.

Tragic, tbh.
I understand what she's saying in the video though. He was 95 and had been sick for a while so him passing was far from unexpected or a shocker; however, it will always bring me to tears when we lose good-hearted people who actually stand up for what they believe in when we're polluted with so much evil on earth. People complain and are so unhappy with the state of the world and there are very few people who refuse to conform instead of reform and start a revolution or a movement.

Aren't you the same person who was praising Whitney ha albums? As "bland" as Mariah's material seems to you (and others), it would never touch Whitney, her tragic discography. And in any case, when will she write and produce masterpieces up to the caliber of Daydream? Never. No shade.

To be honest.
She's always pitchy, especially when she performs "All The Way Home", which is one of my faves on the album.
Tamar has pulled off a few decent live performances before she messed up her vocal cords not long before her album was released You can tell its really damaged her, and now when she needs it more than ever. All The Way Home is easily the hardest song to sing on the album but ironically she always pulls off the last note which is the hardest.

But I have praised and called whit's discography bland when compared to her talent numerous times. And you were the same one who praised the tragedy known as Tamar's debut.
You mean to tell me Mariah has an album on the same caliber as my other faves whether it be:
Sign O Times
Off The Wall
What's Going On
I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You
The Overrated Miseducation of Lauryn Hill etc......
Or even have an album as introspective and deep as ROL or TVR. Yeah no shade sis it's bland when compared to others. It is what it is atleast that's how I see it imo
@KB
I agree loved Tamar's message but what burned me after nelson's death. Was them crusty politicians who were stark against letting him set free and now they wanna talk about he is a great leader .

I've noticed this too. Welp, I'll give her 6 months to get it together

I don't know about that but I do remember in my better discography thread (when I compared Mariah and Whitney), you definitely said that Whitney has a better discography than Mariah. You pretty much trashed her music and said "Whitney Houston, the album is better than any Mariah Carey album" or something to that effect. I found that amusing.

I would never say that, ESPECIALLY not about Sign 'O' The Times which is one of the best albums of all time. I would replace INLAMTYILY with Lady Soul for Aretha though.
And by the way, I was strictly referring to Whitney and Mariah not any of these people that you mentioned here randomly. "She" refers to Whitney, not Michael, Prince, Aretha, Lauryn (whose album isn't overrated at all), and Marvin.

She has Butterfly which came out before those albums.
I know that you don't think it's up to the caliber of TVR and ROL, but I disagree. Butterfly is highly regarded as her most personal, honest, stripped back, and authentic record. It [Butterfly] is a retrospective and personal album that contains some of Mariah's best writing to date like Breakdown, The Roof, Fourth of July, Close My Eyes, etc. Of course, it doesn't have the depth nor the exploration of some of the biggest and controversial topics of the time as TVR and ROL do but Mariah didn't need any of that/is not the type of artist to do something like that.
Janet and Madonna aren't vocalists hence why their discographies are the way they are - artistic, creative, though-provoking for the most part, and out of the box. THEY have to be. They (especially Madge) had to rely on their material as opposed to Mariah, Celine, Whitney, etc who tend to rely on their vocals. As a result, they have "cheesier" material that falls flat compared to that of Janet and Madonna. The only vocalist that has an amazing discography that rivals the likes of Janet's and Madonna's is Aretha, in my eyes.
Think about it: why is Mariah's/Whitney's/Celine's/etc discography so "bland" compared to Janet's/Madonna's?
