I don't see this gaining more on Metacritic, sadly.

Ugh, I can't.
Sometimes I really doubt these so called 'critics'.

I honestly think people tend to review her based on their opinion of her as a person rather than just the music. Half the reviews are dedicated to a recap of her career, her "fall" with BTW, etc. Like one of the 40s I read, I totally did not think their recap of the music sounded like a 40 (maybe a 60 instead). But then it was apparently worth a 40 with Gaga the persona factored in
What kills me too is one reviewer complimenting her for at least staying away from Dr. Luke, yet the same reviewer gave a significantly higher score to PRISM ...? (no Katy shade intended, just saying it logically doesn't make sense)

It's just so unfair cause out of all the pop girls she has by far the best music, and she's not even the girl I stan the most for.
But sometimes I read what people write about her music and think 'are people really this dumb that they just don't get it?' But I guess most people just are. And Gaga seems like a very sweet and genuine person so I also don't get what people could have against her.
Oh well, you know her work is acknowledged by the fans and most critics so, we'll have to do it with that.
It's still bull**** though.

The undeserved reviews lately
If this was a Beyonce album, they would have given it 80+.

All true. Well I guess it means they hold Gags to a high standard. I honestly think this material would be reviewed better (or at least equal to) TFM if she were in the same situation as back then (ie. a newcomer without such polarized public opinion already), or if any other pop girl released it. And I agree about not getting it, like chhh you really can't tell Donatella is intended to be fun + tongue-in-cheek?
I even saw one reviewer saying the lyrics to GUY and Dope contradicted her self-empowerment stuff (which I don't think is true at all but whatever), but what does that have to do with the actual quality of the songs...? Because she has released songs about being independent before, she can never express anything else...?
Whatever, doesn't change my opinion on the album so I guess I shouldn't dwell too much.
Oh I'm looking forward to NME's review though (if they still do one). Even if they can be a bit pretentious/snobby, I agree with a lot of their reviews + they stanned for TFM and BTW. But then of course the "most pretentious album" thing happened I guess it really depends on whichever writer is assigned the album

It's fine for now. It'll show Gaga how much BTW era hurt her. Along with sales and everything, she'll be forced to get it together. The reviews may be a biT unfair, but they should be eye opening for her.

But it is "together"? I mean, musically, the album is amazing. No doubt.
I don't want bad reviews for this particular album. Do we have any other positive people to review it, so it can go to 70+ on Metacritic?

Not really, she's been kind of a mess with singles and looks. If this album came after TFM then it would've smashed harder than BTW, but we don't live in a perfect world. This is album is great, but the reviews are directed at her as a person.
And Rolling Stone stans for Gaga so thats a positive review.

I agree with the looks, but don't shouldn't they rate the music? And yeah, her persona doesn't apply to many people, so I see why the not-that-positive reviews are up there.
Glad to hear about Rolling Stone.

I don't want another long wait for the next album. She needs to make a large discography full a great songs to certify her legend status.

Imo this album is more extreme than BTW even. She takes a step up the ladder everytime, and every album I love her more. But I think that if she would've made tracks like Donatella or Venus in 2011 she would be declared even crazier.
But you're so right about people criticizing her over her whole career more than the actual music, it makes me so pissed cause no one can say songs like G.U.Y. or Sexxx Dreams are actually bad so they just twist their way around it.
But 66 for now is okay, I guess, let me just go listen to it one more time and forget the critique's.
