Meryl's the one who beat her to it (undeserved) and even If the movie was bad (the fault of the book it was based on), Viola, Emma and Spencer gave amazing performances.
JLaw did deserve to win over Lupita though. I hate nepotism (she's from one of the richest families in Africa and clearly her money helped her get into acting school and then that role, plus 12YAS is mediocre and was only awarded because of white guilt).

No she isn't
Her dad is simply a former minister in her home country but yeah she was mediocre on 12YAS, still love it she won (not like the Oscars haven't given it to other mediocre performances before).

I hate rich people weasling their mediocrity into the arts.
Her cousin got that because of the successful cancer awareness and treatment foundation they started. Yes, they aren't poor (her father was accused of some embezzling while he was in office and was a professor before) but they definitely aren't among the richest families.
Plus it clearly states her cousin is renowned for entrepreneurship.
Still better than all of the women I mentioned lol. Mid-'90s Madonna and Janet were comparable, but now they are obviously not. The others never have been, although Taylor sounds great in the studio.
None of those can really sing and Taylor is by far the worst one out of the bunch
