damn, I thought she was exaggerating when she said the album was dark and almost unlistenable.
First impression after 1 play through:
1. it's one hell of a depressing album! It's so so sad. Now her Fader interview makes total sense.
2. All my fav tracks so far are the ones she released beforehand, especially WC. The rest has such a heavy feel I find it hard to distinguish the tracks from each other.
3. I super appreciate The Other Woman and Florida Kilos, they provide a really good break among the dark sad sound.
4. Black Beauty demo is hands down a thousand times better.

Hope Lana is feeling better lol she seems to have gone through way too much depression

My faves are Ultraviolence, West Coast, Sad Girl, and Black Beauty. The rest I find kind of hard to listen to but they're just not for me. At least there's something I can reuse from the album though.

The album is just weird it will take time to really dig into it (once I listen to it enough to sing along with it)
But I CANT compare it with BTD till 2016. I can't compare a half day album with a 2 year old one. But I have a feeling UV will win when compared in 2016

More thoughts:

- Cruel World has already grown into one of my favorites. It's a beautiful album opener & kind of wild. I love how it sounds like it's struggling to stay on course at times.

- Sad Girl & Pretty When You Cry are going to be the 2 underrated gems of the album.

- The vocals on the chorus of Money Power Glory are too loud & high in the mix. It's really grating when played loud.

- I don't like how Lana sounds off-rhythm in the "Go! Go! Go! Go!" parts of FMWUTTT.

- I actually think Old Money is Lana's best chance of a "smash" on this album. At the very least, I think it could be a huge album seller again. It's like "Video Games" meets "Young & Beautiful".

You're right it is harder to digest on first listen. There's a lot thrown in there with not much of a change atmospherically in the production. I myself definitely prefer BTD but they are two totally different albums lyrically and sonically.

I agree Old Money should be a single, nothing else on the standard would do very well. Black Beauty and Florida Kilos could also be singles
