I don't know where people are getting that she wasn't huge in the US. She was massive here. And again, even if you take the population into consideration, she was still biggest in the US, or maybe second to Italy.

ONLY IF you take population, she will be biggest in the States. But just look at the fact that she has never had a top 20 hit...
Even with other countries, she didn't have the digital sales to support neither, so it's not like she only had disadvantages in the US
If we talk about how big a star is in different countries, don't look at sales numbers, look at chart position instead. That's the obvious thing
