He should be praising her that she sounds this good with no back singers, no pre- recorded tracks, and of course the lack of instruments and a full band. When most artists if not all rely heavily on these things in a live setting.
Few artist today can do what Lana's doing. Even the mighty Adele has back up singers and full band to replicate her studios songs live.
I hope in the future Lana sings her song EXACTLY like the studio version because a lot of people seems to think she's incapable of doing so when in fact, she herself decide not to do it that way.
She also sings her lyrics differently compared to the album version which I fear her critics will think she forgot her lyrics too.
I'm positive Lana will grab the top spot WW considering BTD debuted with 340, 000 copies and back then she didn't really have much of a fan base. Now she's bit more established.
I think the reviewer tries too hard to sound smart, and ultimately puts out something quite unintelligible. I agree however about her flawed live performances. I responded however as I felt that he was unfairly bringing up the old accusations about her being manufactured by others, which is total nonsense.

He brought up old tea spilt months ago into the receiptless bin. The review dragged and I don't really catch what he's trying to prove. It's almost like he's doing his best to be honest without being super harsh by saying what he likes about her. But the worst is him over thinking and including irrelevant stuffs about the performance to shade her.

2. Backing singers.
But most importantly, rest her voice and figure out what's going on with it before she does any TV performance. Why is she staying breathless so easily and having hard time hitting notes she easily managed to hit with no problems just months ago? More serious rehearsals, less smoking. probably her posture or not supporting her breathe with her diaphragm. Especially with her songs she goes from her lower range to her upper she needs all the support that she can get with her doing all these modulations. Her vocal cords needs to be relaxed when she sings in all her registers. Smoking anything isn't helping that at all.
Also, it's funny how her live songs sound like the demo version of the songs.

EDIT: Oh yeah I remember a bit of guitars but I think it's still more like the BTD version though with the piano & strings
Lana girl fix your setlist it's been a mess and so far most of the negative reviews I read about her live performances is the length and no encore (Actually NA is the encore but she just doesn't leave because her set is so short even she knows this because she apologizes for it ). Don't worry it'll change soon
Have to say I didn't get more than half way through that Quietus review. I guess I'm someone who just likes to read an actual review of what it is that is supposed to be reviewed without the associated, unnecessary BS.
When she first came out, she was soo good live. I don't know what happened. I remember back in November last year when I first discovered her, I was amazed by her live vocal the first time I watch her performed live.
