I highly doubt there will be only 51 new Pokemon. They are probably just saying that right now until the new Pokemon are officially choose for the games. My bet will be around 115 new Pokemon. I think.

I wonder what kind of story this gen will have. Others are speculating that it has to do with genetics (with the helix on the logo, X & Y chromosomes, the 4 glowing orbs on X's antler's representing the nucleotides (just a theory), the upcoming Genesect movie). Then there are others saying it's about dimensions (X axis, Y axis), you know with it being the first 3DS game. Or it could be both, hehe .

It would be quite interesting if the only way to obtain some of the new pokemon is by cross breeding or DNA splicing like Kyurem/Zekrom/Reshiram.
