Generic artists fade. Britney's music has always been special and memorable. Perhaps she may work with some generic producers but Britney has the ability to elevate a song like no other. There's a fine line and there's a reason why she is here to stay. Like my sig says, "Been there, done that, and will do it again".

Exactly and Britney has faded. Stop she worked with generic producers and produced generic music.

I love me some Britney. But it's obvious her time has passed and she's clearly not invested in her own career. For crying out loud, she's got no artistry. Whatever she "sings" in the studio these days isn't really going to change the industry or be appreciated. Her latest efforts have flopped and people just sympathize with her because she's clearly a puppet. Even if she did return with a strong, interesting comeback, she wouldn't really stand a chance cause there are dozens of younger female pop stars with more charisma and control than she has.
Gaga has much more potential than Britney by eons. They shouldn't even be compared. She may not be as popular as she was before but she has always had more talent and creativity than Britney ever had in ha life.

Also notice how numerous songs from that era sounded closer to the Fame Monster than anything from Blackout.

Elements of dance music were already being integrated into pop when Gaga debuted. Don't fool yourselves, Britney and Gaga both helped further the trend but neither of them started it.
And the delusion that Gaga is on Britney's level. You are comparing a woman who has had about three mainstream albums (and underperformed on her 3rd) to a woman who has had eight albums of which the first six debuted at #1. She has a LONG way to go before she proves herself to be a lasting force as Britney has, because Gaga has yet to prove that when it comes to pop music, she can have extended longevity. That is not to say Gaga isn't capable or talented, but to compare her to a woman who literally started her career before Stefani even played a dive in New York is not only ridiculous but insulting. Gaga has contributed to pop culture, but she has yet to play the part that Britney Spears has.

Gaga has already exploited everything about her. What else is there to see, know, or find out? Britney has stayed mysterious and all her producers have expressed nothing but shock and surprised by her underrated vocal talents and songwriting ability. I would argue that Britney has more talent and potential left to be discovered.

I feel like neither could release for a very long time and pop would be just fine. The GP wouldn't notice either. Just my opinion.
Between the two, it's hard to choose Their last releases were just ... bad.

At least Gaga can sing her own choruses
She has the artistic freedom to do whatever she pleases musically. Britney can't even explore anything outside a Swedish producer's studio.

Lady Gaga's "reveal" of her vocal range at the 2015 Academy Awards trumps any messy little puff piece some producer wrote about Brit managing her way through a song that she will never sing live thereafter. Gaga can move between genres successfully and is likely to be more unpredictable sonically and lyrically. When it comes to performances/promotion there is no comparison - Britney's BBMA was a lip-synced, arm-dance mess where she looked gorgeous but was moving step by step to rehearsed beats with almost no emotion or feeling. It was robotic. Gaga can deliver ballad or uptempo productions with passion far more readily than the Britney of today. Britney being underrated in your opinion doesn't change the fact that she is, as the post I quoted says, eons below Lady Gaga in the potential department.

Why do y'all expect Britney to be some kind of powerhouse? There are different kinds of pop singers just because one can belt better does not make the other any less talented or less likely to offer better material. Y'all are steering way off. The answer is still Britney for me though

Timbaland made it big with all of his productions in '06/'07. They both helped it continue but neither started it.

It's more about actual singing, not just who is better. Britney doesn't sing her songs - I'd much rather someone like Gaga who does (and fantastically well)

Needed the most? Britney.
Now more than ever, if we're being real. I'm not gonna get into the petty as hell "this is why she is more iconic" stan argument bull, but Britney just reinvigorated public interest. Non-stop headlines of her performance since Sunday. Gaga has never really "left" the public eye since that jazz album and those award show performances/roles. Even when Gaga was performing at everything from the Super Bowl to the Oscars, she received praise - but nothing at all like what Britney is getting right now.
Like it or not, it is honestly just the way it is.
Britney is also REALLY important to the artists of today (Selena, Meghan, Ariana, Miley, exc.) and their fanbases witness first hand praise to Britney by their faves, so Britney wins in that regard as well. I mean, every other interview they give they mention their anticipation/love for Britney.
Like it or not, it is honestly just the way it is.
This is a serious era for both artists since they are both coming from severely underwhelming releases. If you would have asked me a year ago who would have the most momentum, I would say Gaga without a doubt. But last years influx of her in every category caused that momentum to plummet. I am not seeing as frequent write ups of her as I am seeing with Britney. She better thank God for the BBMAs because the momentum is insane for her right now. Right now, every major entertainment blog has done a story on Britney in the past three days. Gaga has to do A LOT to gain from that momentum, but I feel like we have seen her extent of media frenzy.
Like it or not, it is honestly just the way it is.
