Are you stupid? Film and music are two completely different disciplines.
Artists were influenced by Whitney's songs just as much as they were her voice. So again, you are wrong.

"Worthless? When it's still inspiring vocalists three decades onwards?"- Me
"Her voice has inspired people. The songs are meaningless."- You

Because when artists talk about Whitney's influence, they always go "yeah her voice inspired me, but not her songs. I find them meaningless". No one ever says this. You have to be a special kind of stupid to think this is the case. So keep your advice to (and FOR) yourself. I know you Madge stans have a habit of rewriting history, but do your best to rein it in.

That doesn't matter. My comment still stands. You want to talk bright? A broken bulb is brighter than you.

"Her voice is on the songs". Well, that's an incisive response. Your critical faculties are outstanding. The songs are still crap and generic though.

If you're going to try be witty, you've got to do better than that.
Her voice is on the songs. People listen to the songs. People like the songs. People like the voice. People are inspired by both. It's not that hard to comprehend.

|
Going by your posts, you really shouldn't be too sure about anything.
SCREAMING. No it is not. Bonnie Tyler's voice is unconventional, but her singing has never been called into question. SHE can sing. Madonna cannot.

I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean. Whitney had hits because she could sing? And then... alternative/indie icon Madonna didn't? Do you think at all before typing, or is it pure stream-of-consciousness mess?

Well, you're not that clever, so I'm not really surprised. Let's review, shall we?

"She [Whitney] revitalized big ballads"- Me
"OK, you pretty much just made this up. Jesus, even obscure dance-pop singer Madonna Ciccone had a #1 ballad in 1985, before Whitney appeared."- You
"Was it a big pop power ballad? Oh wait...I almost forgot Madgie couldn't sing. Fail #4."- Me.
|
Where did you get "Whitney had hits because she could sing" from any of this? Stop trying to read between the lines when you can't even read the words.
The fact that you suddenly referenced Madonna scoring a #1 hit with a ballad in response to what I said clearly shows how the point flew over your poor, dense little head.
Let's apply your "logic" to other situations:
Quote:
Comment: "Janet really revitalized dance and performance in music"
Response: "Well MJ was known for his dancing and he started a dance craze with Thriller before Janet got popular".
|
Quote:
Comment: "Mariah Carey's combination of pop melody and hip-hop beat was really significant in popular music"
Response: "That's rubbish. Blondie even dabbled with hip-hop back in the 80s.
|
The same kind of "intelligence" behind your response to my comment on Whitney revitalizing big ballads.

No, love. No. I don't CARE what matters about Madonna to you. Don't equate me mentioning her lack of voice with me actually thinking about what matters to you about her. There's no correlation.

You didn't even get what I was saying when I mentioned the big pop ballad and Madonna's lack of singing talent. Please, stay in your intellectual lane. Your IQ is clearly in the single digits, so don't assume to get what makes people captivated by a Whitney Houston. Not only is it none of your concern, but it also depends on the individual. So your "criteria" only ended up making you look like a fool. Well done.
Like I said, if you're aiming for witty, you've got to do better than that. A LOT better. If wit was equivalent to singing talent, you'd be...well...Madonna.

Please. Don't try getting smart when your brain's eternally stuck on stupid. Stupidity is your life's standard, so you fit right into 2016.
