She was never underestimated, she was always just an underperformer. Her impressive selling power now is more of a surprise than an expectation.

Thb, you're right. Now with 2 no.1 singles, you would expect close to 400K. I'm starting to think that 110K X-tina sold are actually okay numbers instead of horrible numbers

Christina's album WAS most definitely a flop lol, however the enormity of it has been exaggerated considering the weakness of the music economy and peoples interest in pop music. Katy's sales are a prime example of this: Two hit singles (one of them being an absolute monster), a successful debut, yet can't even muster 200k in its first week. Its quite a shame, tbh, its a good pop record.

Make no mistake, though, Bionic is, and will continue to be, a flop.

Economy, shmeconomy. People aren't interested in pop? Is that why the best-selling album(s) of the last couple years is/are pure pop (TF/TFM)? While the industry is down, there have still been people able to sell 3M+ and you can't really blame the economy for Bionic's numbers.

Katy is different because she's newer. She has never had an album sell 15 million like Christina did. 200K is fine for her and if she has longevity she will do quite well.
