I'm fine with it being the clean version. Perfect to hold me over for my iTunes download tomorrow night. Is anyone in this thread getting the Best Buy version on Friday? I'm gonna get it, but I'm no where near a Best Buy and I can't justify buying 3 copies (calendar edition) of the same album when I have rent due next week

My first listen review of the new songs:

Got Em Like - Didn't leave much of an impression tbh. I think the uncensored might help, but it goes nicely with Mindful I guess. I need a few more listens.

If It Ain't Love - Damn this honestly might be her best song ever. Her vocals! The lyrics! The production! Like it is a jaw-droppingly beautiful song. In a perfect world this would be the biggest song in the country at least.

Make The Bed - The most radio ready song on the album. In all honesty this should have been the lead single. If she could get a hit like utilizing Jason's ubiquity she might have been able to establish herself solo on radio afterwards. The more I listen to the album, the more I question her single choices.

Nightstand - This is one of her strongest songs lyrically and the melody is gorgeous too. The flourishes on the outro are very nice. Little details like those really help elevate the album as a whole.

These Men - I love her so much for actually calling out the men by name. When she called out Idris by name, I gasped. But yassss! The adlibs really make this song along with the cool instrumentation. The chorus is good, but weak compared to the songs before it.

All I Got - The snippet of this didn't do much for me, but it really didn't do the song any justice. It isn't necessarily a highlight for me, but it is still a really great song. I need a few more listens of it though.

Rich - The sort of chanting in the background of the chorus is so overused in music, but otherwise the instrumental is so fun. It is very light and airy. The verses by K, Yo Gotti, and Trina are all great.

Sleep Like A Baby - Another song that should have been a single. The chorus gets me so emotional for some reason. The beat just works so well with the whole thing.


All in all another flawless album. The singles had me worried a bit but K. always delivers. I think it blends the edge of mixtape K, the story-driven K of RS, and the stunning balladry and immaculate production of AWBAH K into a really great album. It is too fresh to know for sure, but I think I prefer AWBAH as an album overall (but it is also one of my all time favorite albums). That being said, songs like If It Ain't Love, Nightstand, and Sleep Like a Baby are genuine career highlights.

All of my favorite insta snippets made the album. At least all of the non-country ones. Knowing she has a separate country EP coming and two are on the Best Buy version helps. I'm glad she recognized she needed to put out more than just 14 songs from these amazing recording sessions

The album is decent, it has strong standouts like Mindful, Aint You, If It Aint Love, All I Got, Nightstand and These Men. The rest feels pretty weak to me compared to her other album tracks. I would say this is her worst album as a whole project, still decent but was expecting more.

I really think her heart was in the country stuff and she made some more urban stuff to appease the label just so the country stuff could get released. That being said, a half assed K. Michelle album is still pretty damn good.
