Be realistic. He can't and won't do that. He's saying whatever he can to get into office. He won't bother doing any of the things he's planning on doing once elected.

Iowa is largely evangelical and according to CNN evangelical Christians are historically the most reliable caucus-goers in Iowa. He already said that he wouldn't try to overrule SCOTUS's decision, he's just doing some last-minute pandering. By talking about gay marriage he's distracting people from the fact that he was previously divorced (multiple times), which evangelicals have criticized him for. He's doing it to steal supporters from Ted Cruz who also opposes gay marriage but has never been divorced which makes him a more preferable candidate for evangelicals and most Christians in general

You don't have to attend the ceremony. Millions of atheists and people of other theist groups are forced to live in a Christian society and we respect your beliefs and are tolerant. No idea why you and millions of other Christians fail to do this.
