It takes place in London and there are many many black people in London. In fact if we're gonna be so obsessed with the movies' portrayal, there were even black people at Hogwarts too so...

This isn't the same problem as Star Wars. Before racists hopped on the bandwagon, the problem stemmed from the fact that Stormtroopers are all clones and they all came from the same person (who wasn't black). That's why the dorks started to cry, because it erased the cannon established in the prequels. But JJ's continuity comes more form the Original Trilogy where the Stormtroopers origins are not explained, so..
The problem with Hermione is that she has been canonically white for 20 years. She has been depicted as a white girl in official illustrations, fan art and in the movies. If she wasn't white, why did JK Rowling (who is vocal about everything) say anything? I would say this is like when they cast Michael B Jordan as The Human Torch, but even then, that was a re imagining. I can totally see were the fans who don't like it (not racists) are coming from. I personally don't like it that much

She was white because everyone ASSUMED she was white because white is the default skin color. JK probably didn't say anything because there was no reason to, when she knew she never specified a skin color. That's your fault for assuming something that was never explicitly stated. Unless yall think that "brown eyes, frizzy hair, and extreme cleverness" can't apply to black girls?

Exactly this. Like it isn't a question of racism or anything like that at all, it's just strange that for all this time the character has been very clearly depicted as white. Never black. Jk definitely should've said something.
Like this isn't a reimagining or anything it's a continuation of the story from a huge fictional universe that everybody is familiar with so it's just surprising and feels a little odd.

She did. And she disagrees with you and everyone else who has a problem with this. Bye, the log out button is at the top right.

And again I beg the question: Why is it that white people always tell poc to "just get over it" when a white person is cast as a poc because "clearly the white person was just a better actor than every poc that auditioned", but as soon as a poc is cast as a white person, yall are ready to go to WAR over it.
